Church "Holy Mother of God", Burgas

The Church of the Holy Mother of God, built in the period 1840-1860, is the oldest in Burgas. It is located in the city center, on Lermontov Street, near the Armenian Church. The patron saint of the church is the Holy Mother Virgin Mary, the most revered saint in Orthodoxy. The temple building is a three-nave basilica with 12 monolithic marble columns, bearing the roof structure and spacious balconies. The church houses icons painted by monks on Mount Athos. In 1927-28. the two towers of the temple were built and three impressive bells were placed in one of them. After the Second World War, the church was declared a cultural monument.
