Church-monument "St. St. Cyril and Methodius", Burgas

The Cathedral of St. Cyril and St. Methodius is one of the symbols of Burgas and one of the most beautiful churches in the country. The temple is located in the city center, on the square "St. St. Cyril and Methodius. It is named after the holy brothers, creators of the Slavic alphabet and disseminators of Christianity among the Slavic-speaking peoples. It was built in 1897 - 1907 according to the plans of the Italian architect Ricardo Toscani. The temple is of the three-nave basilica type. The interior of the cathedral is divided by five pairs of bearing marble columns. The main dome rises on a high twelve-walled drum with windows. Cyril and Methodius are depicted on the beautiful stained glass window at the main entrance of the cathedral. The unique murals are the work of famous Bulgarian artists Prof. Gudzhenov and Kozhuharov, who also painted the church of St. Alexander Nevsky in Sofia.
