Strandzha Nature Park

Strandzha Nature Park, covering an area of ​​1161 square kilometers, has been declared the largest protected area in Bulgaria since July 14, 2000. It is located on the territory of Strandzha Mountain, bordering Turkey to the south and the Black Sea to the east. Five nature reserves, eight natural landmarks and fourteen protected areas find a place in the park. About 64 relict species of animals and plants are found in Strandzha, 7 of them are not found elsewhere in Europe. The same applies to the typical forests of the end of the Tertiary, covering 80% of its territory. This protected area is characterized by the most vertebrates - 413 species and invertebrates are 600 species. Millions of birds pass annually on the migration route - Via Pontica.
