Church "Holy Transfiguration", Pomorie

In the architectural reserve "Old Pomorie houses" the oldest building is the church "Holy Transfiguration", the oldest in the whole city. It was built in 1763 - 1764, completed and consecrated in 1765. The church is a three-nave massive rectangular building with wooden ceilings, built entirely of stone with wooden belts (santrachi). The iconostasis is wood carved, various floral motifs are used. There are 17 large icons from the royal order, painted by various painters in the seventeenth - eighteenth century, and some from the sixteenth century. In the second apostolic order there are 33 small icons. Under the royal icon of Jesus Christ - in the salt room, there is a small holy spring with holy water, the spring is called by Christians "Tears of Christ".
