Saints Kirik and Julita

The island of St. Kirik, also known as the island of St. Kirik and Yulita, is located 250 m from Sozopol. Its area is about 80 decares. This is the only island on our Black Sea coast, connected to the mainland by a breakwater. It was built in 1927. It forms the Sozopol Bay in the shape of a horseshoe, and in the core and the water is always calm. It is believed that in ancient times the island had a sanctuary of Apollo with a statue of Calamides. St. Kirik and the Stolets peninsula are the oldest inhabited part of Sozopol.
